Taste of Second Life

What can be much better on a Saturday in Second Life than a really great sale? A sale that lasts all weekend of course! Taste of Second Life is a weekend shopping experience which brings customers discounted items from various, very talented artists. The sale runs from 12:00 am Saturday through 11:59 pm Sunday. For complete sale information, please visit the official Taste of Second Life Blog.

I remember very early in my Second Life visiting a store where I was simply awed by the creations. Being so young, I had not yet talked myself into purchasing Lindens; so, of course I didn’t buy anything. Those days seem so long ago now. Thanks to Taste of Second Life, I have rediscovered the little shop titled Indie Rose. After visiting the store many long months later, I do believe the designs are even better than I remember. I absolutely love the short, spring time Embroidered Silk Dress that Indie Rose is offering for only L$75 this weekend. I really cannot wait until the real life temperatures where I live start matching all of the lovely spring outfits cropping up everywhere. While you are visiting Indie Rose, be sure to look around the store as well; a 50% - 75% off sale is underway with fatpacks included in the discounts!

Divine is a new to me store which offers everything from skin to clothing and accessories. Their contribution to Taste of Second Life this weekend is a beautiful skin titled Bashyra – Candy, and it definitely looks good enough to eat! I love the smokey look of the eyes; I wish I could create this look on my real life eyes, but I am way to pale to pull it off. I guess that’s why I have Second Life skin; I can be any color I want! The lips are very colorful without being over the top; I love the hint of gloss and shine. The blush is also very nice; I would love to have this color for the real life me. Highlighting and shading can be found throughout the body to give a more realistic look; a cleavage and normal cleavage version are included with your purchase as well as a hairbase for only L$99!

The pose I used, titled Who Are You Wearing?, is also from another new to me store titled Just A Pose. It’s no secret that I absolutely love poses of all shapes and styles; so, discovering a new store is just the thing for me! I literally have thousands of poses in my inventory, and I don’t plan on curbing my appetite for new ones anytime soon. As their contribution to Taste of Second Life, Just A Pose has set out two pose sets, one male and one female, for only L$60 per set. I absolutely love that each of the female poses contains a thin and curvy version since my ava is a bit wider at the hips. The poses included in these sets are ‘Red Carpet Poses’ in honor of the upcoming Oscars. You really must TP to Just A Pose to check these out!

Please note that the first picture has been post processed while the second picture has only been cropped with an added border to show the true look of the skin.

Week 17 of 52 Weeks of Color - Electric Lime

I have to admit that electric lime was a little more challenging than what I thought it would be when Luna Jubilee announced the color for this week. Electric lime is an odd mixture of yellow and lime green which not many designers carry in Second Life. Go figure!

Photobucket

I was almost ready to throw in the towel and spew curse words at Luna (not really… she really is too sweet for that) when a beautiful new design from a very talented and beautiful (inside and out) Second Life artist landed in my virtual lap. Lestat Reuven, owner and designer of Siss Boom, created a 52 Weeks of Color combo for this week’s challenge, appropriately titled Electric and Fiction Skin Electric. The dress is one of my favorite styles in Second Life and comes with the option of two different skirts. The first style is a beautiful empire dress with two long flowing skirts, one green and one blue. Each skirt can be worn independently of the other or together; I chose to only wear the green skirt since this is a green week! A shorter mini skirt is also included with your purchase just in case you are looking for a night out on the town! Electric will be displayed in Siss Boom’s new release room for the duration of the Electric Lime Week and is available for L$325.

Photobucket

The second part of Lestat’s 52 Weeks of Color special is the very beautiful limited version of the Fiction Skin. The eyes are definitely a focal point for this skin; the beautiful green eye shadow goes perfectly with the theme color. I really love the eyeliner and lashes as well; they definitely give the skin a more dramatic effect. What better color to pair with green than a shade of red? And, that is exactly the color you will find in the very luscious lips of the Fiction Skin. Highlighting, shading and random moles and freckles are found throughout the skin which, of course, gives the skin a more realistic and natural look. The Fiction Skin Electric will only be available for one week and at a discounted price of L$400; a free demo is also available. Pick this skin up before it is gone forever!

The hair I chose to wear with my gorgeous new outfit is one of the two newly released styles from Truth. It has been a while since I last did a review for Truth hair even though I wear his styles quite often. In my personal opinion, no one in Second Life does long, curly hair like Truth Hawks. His skill and talent puts him so far above many other hair designers in Second Life who are talented in their own right as well. So, what makes his designs so special? Realism! His textures are absolutely stunning, and the flexibility of his prims gives them such a life like quality. The style I’m featuring is titled Whitney; packs are available both in store and on the marketplace for L$250 per pack or L$1,500 per fatpack.

Photobucket

I’ll admit it… I was extremely excited when I logged onto Second Life this morning and saw that there was a new collection at Mon Tissu. This very chic boutique has become one of my favorite shops in Second Life, and I always look forward to new releases. I have always loved Surf Co. shoes; so, when I first learned that its owner would also be a co-designer for Mon Tissu, I was anxious to say the least. The Montsegur Pumps are just one lovely example of why I was so excited. Just like I love quality hair, I can no longer do without quality shoes in Second Life. The sculpts and textures of Mon Tissu are absolutely amazing; a combination of realism and art are blended perfectly together with each design. The newly released pumps are so very feminine; the colors available are perfect for Spring with a variety of pastels and basic colors. Each color is available for L$295 or L$2,000 for a fatpack of eight. Typically, I would not even consider joining a group with a $1,000 membership fee, but I realized early on that I would be purchasing a lot of ‘all color packs’ of shoes. Members of Mon Tissu’s in world group enjoy a 25% discount on ‘all color’ packs which reduces the price of the shoes from L$2,000 to L$1,500. If you purchase an insane amount of shoes like I do, you can see how your savings will quickly add up and easily covers the cost of membership plus more. These shoes really are a must have for Spring!

Final Hours @ I ♥ Originals Fair

Tomorrow is the last day of the I ♥ Originals Fair. I apologize for not blogging as many of the outfits featured at the event as I had intended, but with real life circumstances being as they were, I simply could not find the time or the will to sit down and blog.

Photobucket

The wedding season is right around the corner, and if you are looking to get married in your Second Life, Felicia’s Fashions has an absolutely gorgeous wedding gown available at the fair. The Dianna Bridal Gown is a slender style that is able to still incorporate a long train and slightly poofy look. I absolutely love the veil that is included with your purchase. It is beautifully textured and features gorgeous roses that sit on the top of the head. As if the gorgeous gown wasn’t enough by itself, a pair of sculpted toe shoes is also included with your purchase!

Photobucket

No wedding gown is complete without a beautiful set of jewelry. I have always wanted a set of pearls to wear in my real life wedding which will hopefully be taking place this summer. Caroline’s Jewelry is offering a gorgeous pearl set at the I ♥ Originals Fair in white, black and pink. The necklace is triple stranded and connected by an adorable flower. Dangle pearl earrings and a broach are also included with the purchase.

Week 13 of 52 Weeks of Color - Emerald

When I think of emerald, I think of a deep, rich green and not so much the mild green proposed on Luna Jubilee’s 52 Weeks of Color. But, like so many other colors in this challenge, I suppose emerald has its various shades as well.

Photobucket

Although I have never blogged The Secret Store before, I have most definitely admired the designs of Maylee Oh since I first noticed her on the fashion feeds a month or so ago. Her sculpts are beautiful and the textures are breathtaking. The skirt I am wearing, titled Chiffon in Silk Kerchief, is a special currently available at The Dressing Room Blue where The Secret Store is appearing as the guest. Personally, I believe Maylee should be a permanent fixture at TDR! Who doesn’t love getting fabulous clothing at a discount?!

My shirt is actually part of a dress by Siss Boom who is now placing out designs each week to correspond to the theme for 52 Weeks of Color. Writing on the Wall was Lestat Reuven’s contribution to taupe, and honestly, I feel that this taupe is more ‘taupish’ than the color swatch on Luna’s blog. Once again, so many shades are available! I’m too OCD for this… Why can’t there just be one shade of each color?! ROFL But, then I suppose all we would be left with are primary and secondary colors; that seems a bit boring.

The pose I am rocking is by Luna Jubilee herself! Through January 31st, all six pose packs have been marked down to L$100. Luna is running out of wall space and having a major sale before she sends all her smaller packs to the Marketplace. All future packs sold in store will contain ten poses each. I used Wake Me Up 7 (Extra Curvy) in the photo above which is included in one of Luna’s new pose packs. Luna’s poses are so versatile and can be used with so many different outfit types. If you have never visited !bang, you should definitely stop by! … And especially since there is a sale!! Hehe ;-)

Swedish

I was so excited when I saw the new skin line from Siss Boom yesterday. Swedish is a softer type skin, as expected from the name. As promised, I took pics in all makeups of the three available tones: spectral (light), ecru (medium) and stygian (tan). The names of the tones really interested me, and being a teacher and a lover of reading, I had to look them up.

Spectral: of, relating to, or suggesting a specter: ghostly
Ecru: beige
Stygian: 1 – of or relating to the river Styx; 2 – extremely dark, gloomy, or forbidding

The names make perfect sense after you understand the meaning behind the words! Four versions are offered with each skin tone: one basic and three makeups. The makeups are not a tattoo layer but a full skin layer instead. If you are tired of trying to mix and match eye shadows, lipsticks, blush, mascara and lashes, these skins would be perfect for you! Swedish is available for L$999 per each makeup or L$1,999 for a single tone fatpack. The shape I am wearing is also included with your purchase as well as a set of silvery/gray eyes (not shown). All versions are copy/no modify/no transfer. Free demos are available; please try these before you decide to make a purchase because refunds are not possible. I’m sure you won’t want a refund once you try them, but just in case!

Hint

It has been a very busy and a very crazy week to say the least. When real life takes hold, it really gets a good grip! I have been having a bit of a photographer’s block this evening and didn’t get to take as many pictures as I would have liked; so, that means you get more posts from me on the new releases from Siss Boom tomorrow! Yay! Hehe

Photobucket

A breathtaking dress and an absolutely gorgeous new skin line were released from Siss Boom today. Tomorrow I will be posting a full review of Swedish Essential, but I could not go to bed tonight before I gave you a look at Hint which is available now at the special price of only L$100. You know me; I seriously cannot pass up a poofy gown to save my life… especially if that poofy gown is absolutely, beyond belief stunning. Lestat Reuven has most definitely delivered with the creation of Hint. The flexi skirt features a huge poof out design in the back which makes this dress perfect for any formal event, perhaps even that wedding you may be planning in the very near future. I married my real life boyfriend in Second Life when we were only a week or so rezzed. It was a very small ceremony consisting of only the two of us. LOL Maybe we need to renew our vows just so I can show off this dress! The dress also features a fantastically designed, humongous bow in the back. The loops of the bow are designed to look like flower petals which gives the gown a very soft and feminine feel. An adorable ruffle is also attached to the chest of the dress.

The skin I am wearing is the Stygian tone of the new Swedish Essential skin line. As mentioned before, I will be giving a full review on this skin tomorrow. One makeup in the Spectral tone is currently available at Siss Boom for only L$100, but this price will also disappear when new releases are available tomorrow. If you have never tried Siss Boom skins, this is the perfect opportunity for you to do so!
