Fashion for Life [Fab.Pony, LOGO and Elikatira]

Photobucket

I remember being completely awe inspired during my first Second Life Relay for Life Clothing Fair last year. I first joined Second Life in late October of 2009, and nine SIMs of international wonder was simply amazing. All year I looked forward to the next RFL Clothing Fair, and I was extremely disappointed when I first read that there would not be one for this year. Thankfully, new coordinators stepped up to give those who had organized the fair in years past a break, and thus, we now have Fashion for Life.

I am so completely honored to have been accepted as an official blogger for the event; I, like so many others, have been personally affected by cancer. Many people in my family have suffered from the horrible disease, including both my grandmothers, one of my grandfathers and one of my sisters. I am happy to do anything possible to raise awareness and funds for research. Many fabulous designers have donated their time and creations to help raise money which will be donated to the American Cancer Society. To keep track of the funs being raised, please visit the official Fashion for Life blog.

Photobucket

One of my favorite parts about fashion fairs is the discovery of new designers. Many times in Second Life, it is difficult to find new stores because of the vastness of the grid. Unless the designer is included in a special sale or event, I’m more than likely not going to know about them. Fab.Pony is a new to me store that is full of color. You know me, I’m not typically a fan of mini dresses with prim pieces stuck between the legs, but when I find a design like this that matches up extremely well, it is a definite win. The Own the Night Dress has a very interesting zig-zag pattern with an amazingly shiny and realistic texture. While many colors are available, the fuchsia and black version is the version offered as a Relay for Life donation. This beautiful dress is perfect for a night out on the town and is available for a donation of L$310.

Photobucket

To match your fab new dress, you can try your hand at Fab.Pony’s gatcha for the chance to win the pair of Fantasy60 Earrings with matching fuchsia and black colors! Nine colors are included in the gatcha with a three color pack being the lucky rare item (fuchsia/pink version found in rare pack). Even if you don’t snag the three color pack with your first L$60 donation, honestly all of the colors are a win.

Photobucket

I matched the dress from Fab.Pony up with another new to me store item from LOGO. I think I may have heard of LOGO on the fashion feeds, but I have never visited the store. I am most definitely putting that on my ‘to do’ list for the near future. The Stone Chip set includes a necklace, bracelet and a set of earrings. The design reminds me of the very popular design my real life sisters wear. The classic black color allows you to pair this jewelry set with so many different outfits, and the donation price of L$325 makes this a true bargain.

Photobucket

I really love when clothing is sold as outfits in Second Life. With the endless tones and shades designers can choose from for their clothing, sometimes it is a challenge to find items that match each other. Fab.Pony has put together two items for another of their donation items. The Samantha Stripped Tank in White and Fog and the Chloe Jeans in Charcoal are being offered for a donation price of L$399. Sold separately, these items would cost L$425; so, you are saving money while giving a worthwhile contribution to the fight for a cure! The jeans are amazing and include attachment pieces for both heels and flats.

Photobucket

It’s no secret that one of my favorite designers in Second Life is the owner of Elikatira. I first discovered ETD when I began modeling for Lemania Indigo Designs in February 2010. I was still relatively new in world and asked a co-worker where I could find good quality hair at a fair price. She sent me the landmark to ETD, and it has been love ever since. I was heartbroken when the doors closed for a few months and was overly excited when Elikatira opened for business a few months ago. Hye is the newly released design from Elikatira for Fashion for Life. I was truly touched when I read the subconscious inspiration for the style on Elikatira’s blog. The design is a style her mother wore as a young woman; unfortunately, she lost her to cancer more than ten years ago. Hye is being offered in a special twelve color pack for a donation of L$400.

Azoury

With the increase in allowed group slots yesterday, I was able to join a couple groups which I wouldn’t have had room for otherwise. One of those groups lead to the discovery of a new to me store, and I am so excited to share it with you (even though I’m sure those of you who have been around longer than I have probably already know about it!).

Photobucket

Azoury is unique in that it offers complete outfits as well as separate pieces which allow you to mix and match colors. The complete outfits include both clothing and shoes! How fantastic is that? And, when I say shoes… I’m not talking about shoes which lack visual appeal as standalone pieces. The shoes found at Azoury are beautifully sculpted pieces of artwork with amazing textures.

So, how many Lindens will this cost you? Complete outfits start around L$300; if you want to purchase the shoes only, they cost L$99 per pair! My ava could have fallen over yesterday when I saw shoes with this amount of detail for only L$99. I do believe I have found shoe heaven!

It's a Party!

Every month, Lemania Indigo Designs hosts a L$1 hunt on her SIM. I remember always being excited for these events when I was only a few months old in Second Life, and to be honest… I still get excited to see what she puts out each month. The number of prizes varies from month to month; this month for the It’s a Party hunt, Lemania has placed fifteen gifts out for L$1 each with prizes including clothes, accessories, hair and furniture. Prizes #1 (Sunflower Hair Pin), #2 (Hollyhocks), #13 (Plinky Pink) and #15 (Paris Vacation) are featured below. The hunt runs through January 31st.

Inspiration

Photobucket

The work week is nearly here again, but since I still have a few hours before I must return to my real life, I thought I could have at least a little more fun! I have never been to Asia nor have I ever done an Asian themed post, but the skin from MonS in The Dressing Room Blue inspired me to do something a bit different.

Photobucket

Since its opening, The Dressing Room has introduced me and many, many others to some of the best designers Second Life has to offer. The stunning dress I am wearing is from Baiastice. Well, if I wanted to be technical, the dress is actually a collaboration of the Alisha Top in black and the Balloon Silk Skirt in black, but they pieces go so well together that it could be mistaken for a dress. The top features a beautiful texture with outstanding highlighting and shading; I love the glittery, beaded texture included on the top of the shirt. The skirt features translucent prims ‘ballooning’ out from the base. This ensemble is available at The Dressing Room Blue for L$70.

Photobucket

I’m not entirely sure that the Enna Skin from MonS is indeed an Asian skin; actually, I’m almost positive that it isn’t since the eyebrows have a reddish tint. However, the slanting of the eyes and the swooshed out eyeliner made me think Asian. I love the lips on this skin! They are so vibrant and full of color. The lack of eye shadow on the eyelids makes this skin a perfect base for all of those shadow tattoos I am sure you are collecting by now. This skin is available at The Dressing Room Blue for L$70.

I absolutely love discovering new (to me) jewelry stores; what makes the experience even better is when the designer obviously has a lot of talent! The Stoned Set collection from Aglaia is a three stone necklace set on golden rings with smaller, purple gems on both the stones and the necklace portion. The set also includes large, gold earrings with the same purple stones, a wire type bracelet with a stone and gems attached and rings (not pictured) which feature each of the three stones on different fingers. For one week only, the entire set is available for L$150.

The Brownie hair from LoQ confused me a bit when I first put it on. This piece is another item that I picked up while vising The Dressing Room Blue. The poof, adorable pony and stray hairs sticking out rezzed on my head when I attached the hair but nothing rezzed on the sides. I waited a few minutes, suspecting lag to be the culprit, but still nothing rezzed. I then had a ‘DUH!!’ moment and looked back into the file. The hair included a tattoo hair base which makes up the sides of the hair instead of prims. I am not normally a fan of hair base tattoos, but this one blends so nicely; I am definitely impressed with it. This hair is available in a pack of four colors at The Dressing Room Blue for L$70.

Photobucket

Finally, but most certainly not least, are my amazing boots! Although Dilly Dolls specializes in doll clothing, the shoes offered by designer and owner Oriana Kuhr are extremely versatile and will go with many different styles of clothing. The Sonata Boots feature beautifully sculpted prims layered over each other. The metallic texture is beautiful and offers just enough highlighting and shading. These boots are Viewer 2 compatible only. The Sonata Boots are available in twenty-one colors of darks, lights and metallics for L$75 per pair or L$500 for the dark fatpack, L$500 for the light fatpack and L$300 for the metallic fatpack.

Week 10 of 52 Weeks of Color - Sienna

I cannot believe that it is already week ten of Luna Jubilee’s 52 Weeks of Color! What is even more unbelievable is that I have stayed with it this long! I am absolutely horrible about starting a project and never finishing it. Of course, we are quite a way from the finish line, but this has been a pretty good start!

Photobucket

I almost went into panic mode yesterday when I realized week ten was almost here and I hadn’t even been looking for anything sienna. Thankfully, Whippet & Buck came to the rescue with their contribution to Fifty Linden Friday! The Maddy Lace-Inset Top is absolutely adorable; it features beautiful shading which gives it a realistic look and a wonderful lace layer over each of the shoulders. Your purchase comes complete with multiple wearing layers and three colors: baby baby, orchid and sienna.

Photobucket

Don’t you just love my necklace?! I don’t wear a lot of big jewelry in real life, but I love wearing it in my second life! I thought a big piece would go beautifully with this top and knew just the place to go and pick up such a necklace. Donna Flora is not only a brilliant clothing designer, but she is also an absolutely amazing jewelry (and shoes!) designer. All of her pieces include such rich texture, and you honestly cannot beat the price. The Monia set comes with a necklace, earrings and rings for each hand. This set is color change with six color options; the center stone, smaller stones and pearls can be changed independently of each other giving you an extreme amount of options! The set is set for L$500, but it's like getting an entire fatpack!

Free Shoes Excite Me

Purrfect 10 released two new FREE pairs of shoes yesterday! To receive both pairs, you must be a member of the VIP group (L$510 joining fee). By joining the VIP group, you are guaranteed ten exclusive VIP gifts per year. Seeing that the going price for a pair of Purrfect 10 shoes is upwards of L$1000, I think L$510 for ten pairs of shoes per year is a pretty good deal! The Christmas version of the Serenity Heels is available to all members of the free Purrfect 10 update group. Both pairs of shoes are exceptionally well made and give customers and excellent example of the quality they can expect to find in all Purrfect 10 creations.

Albero Gatcha Festival + Mariposa Closing Sale

The Albero Gatcha Fall Festival started yesterday, and there are many amazing designers participating. If you aren't familiar with what a gatcha is, it is much like a gumball machine. You pay the vendor a set amount which is often very low compared to the designer's normal prices, and you get one of the items inside the vendor. The designer will often put multiple colors of a particular object in the vendor with two to three of those colors being a rare 'prize'. I got a lot of amazing items for my Second Life house yesterday, but I only picked up a few fashion items. I was extremely excited to see that Ingenue had a gatcha at the festival; the designer has included a beautiful blouse, titled Gamine, in ten colors. Unfortunately, even after four tries I didn't get the rare white shirt, but I was definitely not disappointed with the colors I did receive. A-BOMB also has a gatcha set up at the festival with an amazing pair of heels in eleven colors; as luck would have it, I actually got the color I most wanted on the very first try!

I was very sad to see in a fashion feed earlier this week that Mariposa is closing. I first discovered the store this past summer and instantly fell in love with the designer's jewelry. There is, however, an amazing closing sale underway; if you have never tried Mariposa jewelry, I suggest that you definitely pick up a few of the designs before they are gone. I purchased fatpacks of every design that I liked; at such low prices, it was a steal! Hopefully the designer will decide to not stay gone forever.

Buckled Dolly Pumps II

Oh, yes! Yes, I do have a brand new, actually two, pair of shoes! The Dilly Dolls Buckled Dolly Pumps II are a remake of a previously popular version offered by the designer. These beautiful heels feature thick soles and adorable straps with buckles. The shoes are available in a dark and light version; both versions of the shoe feature color change options. You can change each shoe individually by clicking the shoes, or you can change both shoes at the same time via a color change hud. The shoe and the buckle can be changed independently of each other, giving you even more options! This shoe will only work with Viewer 2.

Baby Monkey Pumps

Dear Blog Readers,

I have a confession that I must make. It appears that I have come down with an illness that is not soon to be cured. That is right, I am addicted to Second Life shoes. This illness is showing symptoms much like my incurable addiction to Second Life hair. I hope you will understand if I make many random posts involving my feet as it is a side effect that cannot be stopped. As a temporary fix, Baby Monkey has supplied me with copies of their beautiful new pumps, Mia (Color Change) and Simone (Nude Color FREE Group Gift). I hope you find these as irresistible as I do.

Sincerely,
Lashae Karsin

If a cute pair of pants is what you are looking for, you must check out Spirit Store, a relatively new establishment by Spirit Osmus! The designs feature everything from plaid and zig zags to jeans with one leg. The designer also offers customers jewelry and adorable tops. Save a Little

After spending so many lindens this past weekend in all the amazing sales (Ugh! Cannot resist them!), I needed a little down time. I remember when I first joined Second Life, anything over L$10 seemed insanely expensive to me for items that I would never own in my real life. How long ago that seems now! Looking back, most items that I could find, as a newbie, for that price were in all honesty horrible. As time went on, however, I did find some designers who offer amazing options for very little or absolutely free. One of those designers is Lemania Indigo Designs. Every week, Lemania offers her customers a new group gift (L$1) and a new Midnight Mania item (150 participants required). Lemania also participates in many grid hunts and has her own personal SIM hunt each month where she will place 20-30 items out for only L$1 each. If you have never been to the Lemania SIM, I highly recommend that you check it out!

Newbie Style Challenge

We all remember what it was like being a newbie on Second Life. While I did find the free shops for newbies, I had no idea where the good free items were. I actually didn't realize until later just how much better the clothing could be on Second Life than what is offered in most newbie shops. Don't get me wrong, the items are fine for when you are just starting, but the 'older' I get, the more detail and realism I want. Juicy Bomb has proposed a blogger challenge where you must completely make over your avatar with no more than L$20.

Blogger challenge from Juicy Bomb:

Can you make a nice avatar with little to no money?

Newbie Style Challenge Guidelines

Things you can do:
  • You can use your existing shape (or give your alt your shape)
  • You can purchase freebies, dollarbies (or anything under $20L)
  • You can use group gifts, free gifts, hunt items, etc
  • You can use it if you win it! (Lucky Chair, Midnight Mania)
  • All items must be acquired during the time of the challenge (July 4 - July 10). You can't use free items not currently available or in paid groups you're alrady a member of.

Things you cannot do:

  • You cannot spend more than $20L
  • You cannot ask your designer friends to send you stuff
  • You cannot use group gifts from groups that are paid-to-join
  • You cannot transfer inventory from your main to your alt
  • You cannot use anything in the library folders

/revised/ You CAN use some tiems from the library folders, if you really want to! Use sparingly.

It's Showtime!

Show Me On the Doll has two awesome group gifts out until midnight SLT tonight. The first gift is a fifty-nine piece outfit that you can mix and match between stars and stripes full shirts, crop shirts, corsets, bras, undies, pants, skirts and collars. The second gift is a skin in eight different tones. The skin is a reminder to me of how sad and disheartening the loss of American lives is for the freedoms we enjoy, and too often take for granted, every day. To receive the gifts: (1) Join the Subscribo at the main store [link below], (2) Touch the little mail slot next to the subscriber kiosk, (3) Choose to have the items delivered to you!
