Textures

I got a bit braver this weekend playing with PhotoShop... I decided to work with textures!  I've seen a lot of other people do it with their photos and wanted to try it myself, but as I have stated many times, PhotoShop makes me nervous.  I would love to take at least one formal course dedicated specifically to the software, but for now, I will just have to keep working with YouTube tutorials.  Adding the texture to the photo was a lot easier than what I thought it was going to be; the difficult part was finding one that I liked.

As soon as I saw the new mesh top, titled Sanya Draped, from Zaara at FaMESHed, I knew I had to have it!  The flow of the shirt is absolutely stunning and the texture is so beautiful.  The top is available in twelve colors which can be purchased individually, in packs of 'gold' or 'silver' or as a fatpack.  Five sizes and two alpha layers are included, and a free demo is available.

I purchased my first pair of Maitreya mesh jeans to go with this outfit, and I must say that I am deeply in love!  They are a bit expensive for a pair of jeans (coming in at 420L per pair), but I don't regret spending the extra lindens on them because they are well worth it.  The shape is absolutely beautiful and the texture is amazing.  Even though you cannot see it in either of my pictures, my hinny looks amazing!  Your purchase includes twelve sizes and an alpha layer; you can purchase the jeans individually or in a fatpack for 1750L which is an excellent price for all eight colors (you save 1610L total). I'll be the first to admit that when it comes to accessorizing, I tend to stick with a necklace and some earrings.  I've never really bothered with nails before because I'm a little OCD when it comes to fitting them.  The nails from Izzie's are absolutely fool proof; simply size your hand to 5, 10, 15 or 20 and attach the appropriate nail size.  Don't panic if it doesn't look like they fit correctly when you are on your pose stand; as soon as you hop off, everything lines up just right.  The Metal Stripe nails are just one of three sets released by Izzie's this weekend.  This set includes thirty-four colors which are changeable via a HUD, scripted and unscripted versions, four sizes and thirteen modifiable nail bases on the gloves layer.  The nail bases work perfectly with Izzie's skins... I really love that convenience!  I loved how well the color of these nails matched up with the top from Zaara; I actually had a difficult time finding a pose to show the nails off because the pink portion of the nails was blending so well with the top.  These are a definite must have for any wardrobe!

Week 36 of 52 Weeks of Color - Celadon

Yay!! I’m so proud that I have done two color challenges in a row now. Bahaha! I still really need to make up those weeks that I missed… but, it’s just so daggone hard to find the time. Is it pathetic that I recently purchased a date book to keep track of what I need to blog and when it needs to be posted? I honestly have a crappy memory, and small pieces of paper just aren’t cutting it anymore. Does anyone else have a way they keep track of what they need to blog?

In all honesty, this week’s color was super hard for me. I bought a cute little skirt at the beginning of the week that had the very pale green in it, but I just wasn’t feeling it when I was getting ready to take pictures. So, here I was at one this morning trying to find something to wear. I remembered that Grixdale was having a sale and teleported over to see if I could find something that would work. When I came upon this cute little sundress, it instantly reminded me of my grandmother which I’m sure is completely not what Tyr Rozenblum had in mind when she designed it. My grandmother always wore sundresses in the summertime, but of course they were much longer than the adorable design by Tyr. I happily snagged it up for a whole L$50 and went to take my pictures! The sale lasts through July 16th, and you can find a lot of really great items marked down to L$100, L$75 or L$50. Tyr also has a set out a pack of seven pair of adorable panties for Project Themeory for free!

When I get new items to blog, I have a tendency to rez the packages around my studio and then clean up the clutter after I have posted the new products. It’s definitely a good thing that I did that this week, or I probably wouldn’t have realized that I had this awesome new skin from Filthy Skins that had just the right eye shadow color for the color challenge! Alexandra Barcelos recently released a new female skin design titled Paige which is absolutely stunning; I hope to have my full review up by Monday. The makeup that I am wearing is a special edition of the Paige skin currently available at the Grunge Soul Project for L$100. I personally think that the open mouth design is absolutely adorable! It gives more realism to the look by creating depth.

I was so super excited when [elikatira] started participating in Fifty Linden Fridays. She is most definitely one of my favorite hair designers in all of Second Life; I’m sure that you could tell that, however, by how much I use her products in my posts. Yesterday marked her second appearance in the sale event where she placed out a new hair design, titled Falling, with two options (bangs in the front or clipped to the side) for only L$50! And, she doesn’t just include one hair color for her sale item, but she places out the entire Essentials Collection which typically goes for L$250. This really makes me just happy as a clam since that is the pack I always purchase anyway! Unfortunately, if you didn’t stop by yesterday, you have sadly missed out on a great deal, but I am sure that she will have another design in the sale in a few weeks! The full collection of Falling has not been released yet but keep your eyes peeled for it!

Week 10 of 52 Weeks of Color - Sienna

I cannot believe that it is already week ten of Luna Jubilee’s 52 Weeks of Color! What is even more unbelievable is that I have stayed with it this long! I am absolutely horrible about starting a project and never finishing it. Of course, we are quite a way from the finish line, but this has been a pretty good start!

I almost went into panic mode yesterday when I realized week ten was almost here and I hadn’t even been looking for anything sienna. Thankfully, Whippet & Buck came to the rescue with their contribution to Fifty Linden Friday! The Maddy Lace-Inset Top is absolutely adorable; it features beautiful shading which gives it a realistic look and a wonderful lace layer over each of the shoulders. Your purchase comes complete with multiple wearing layers and three colors: baby baby, orchid and sienna.

Don’t you just love my necklace?! I don’t wear a lot of big jewelry in real life, but I love wearing it in my second life! I thought a big piece would go beautifully with this top and knew just the place to go and pick up such a necklace. Donna Flora is not only a brilliant clothing designer, but she is also an absolutely amazing jewelry (and shoes!) designer. All of her pieces include such rich texture, and you honestly cannot beat the price. The Monia set comes with a necklace, earrings and rings for each hand. This set is color change with six color options; the center stone, smaller stones and pearls can be changed independently of each other giving you an extreme amount of options! The set is set for L$500, but it's like getting an entire fatpack!

Fifty Linden Friday

There were a lot of great designs out today for Fifty Linden Friday, but unfortunately most did not match my personal style. Just when I thought I had enough swimwear, I see Batkini!! This adorable bikini by Schadenfreude features a bat design on the top and bottom with a rainbow effect underneath. Schadenfreude is also offering a deep v vest that actually looks pretty good with the bikini! Who knew?!

I don't normally like changing my eyes or shape, but Turquoise Unicorn Studios is offering an adorable set of rainbow eyes that matched the Batkini so well!

It's Friday once again, which means that a group of fabulous Second Life designers has a special item out for only L$50! This week, I picked up products from two of my favorite designers, fri.day and Clawtooth, and two newly discovered designers to me, Doppelganger Inc. and Long Awkward Pose. fri.day has their Melody Halter in Spice and Poet Halter in Sea out; you get both adorable halters for L$50! Clawtooth is offering Twinkle Toast in two colors, Soil and Blinding (Exclusive Color); you also get both of these for L$50! Doppelganger Inc. had an adorable summer dress out titled Lana; it is a very pretty blue color with white polka dots. Long Awkward Pose didn't have a specific set of poses out; however, they are having a L$50 sale. You did have to look around, and I found two adorable sets titled Swimsuit and Bad Bish.

Friday has always been my favorite day of the week, but now it is even better with the deals you can find from great designers with Fifty Linden Friday. I am always excited when I see a !lamb. hairstyle go on sale, and today was no different! Two beautiful specials, Dog Roses in Kit Kat and Whoop Dee Doo in Butter, were put out for your Second Life enjoyment!

Miel is also another designer whose items I absolutely adore! She is featuring a beautiful white and blue necklace and ring set. It is definitely a must have!
